Lady Gaga is bisexual and has been an LGBTQ2IA+ advocate for years. In “Poker Face,” she talks about how she thinks of women while having sex with certain men. She has to hide what she’s thinking about behind a “poker face” so that her sex partner doesn’t know. The lyrics of the song also contain gambling references, indicating the risk in hiding one’s true feelings. Gaga says that she is no longer afraid of letting those true feelings be known because writing the song has helped her conquer that fear. The lyrics of the song aren’t explicit, but they are highly charged and sexual. “Bluffin’ with my muffin'” refers to her sexual organs, and Gaga said that it’s her “*****’s poker face.” Other lyrics, such as “my love glue-gunnin’,” obviously refer to Gaga being sexually aroused and ready for intercourse. Furthermore, in the chorus, she says, “**** her face,” which describes oral sex. And, by saying that, “… If it’s not rough, it isn’t fun,” Gaga indicates that she’s at least a little kinky as well. All of this puts to the sword the absurd notion, which was popular about Gaga back in 2008, that she was a man who had, as this interviewer said, “… a well-endowed donkey-****.” During that same interview, Gaga said that she had never told that former boyfriend about her “poker face” but that she thought he would know now because he was undoubtedly watching.

Her debut album, released when she was barely 22 years of age, was “The Fame,” which has sold more than 20 million copies worldwide over the last 15 years. “Poker Face” reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in April 2009, and earlier than year, so did “Just Dance” from the same album. “Poker Face” was No. 1 simultaneously in 19 countries around the world, from Canada to New Zealand. At the time, it set the record for most streaming downloads in it’s first week at 1 million.
