On June 17, 2022, Luke Combs presented the official music video for his latest single, titled “The Kind of Love We Make.” The comeback of one of the most well-known country singers of our time was something that fans had anticipated for a few months. The song has a country-soul swagger, reminiscent of Chris Stapleton and Billy Currington’s hits.

The lead singer of Luke Combs’s song “The Kind of Love We Make” begins the song by giving the impression that he and the addressee of the song, his significant other, are both workaholics. Therefore, in his opinion, they have to make room in their schedules for some “quality alone time.” More specifically, in terms of the chorus and the title, Luke desires to take advantage of the opportunity to engage in some loving behavior that benefits both parties.

When talking about the song’s making, Comb said, “I wrote this song in Montana with Dan and Reid Isbell and my guitar tech Jamie Davis. Jamie had the idea, and Reid and Dan brought it to me and I thought it was a killer melody. It ended up being one of those songs that wrote itself. Dan, Reid and I are all having kids within a month of each other, so maybe this song had something to do with that.”

And now that the song is public, people are interested in attempting to figure out the underlying the song lyrics meaning and the message that the song is trying to communicate to them.

Song Lyrics Meaning

The lyrics of “The Kind of Love We Make” is a wonderful message directed toward all long-term couples who have lost the passion and connecting spirit they had at the beginning of their relationship.

In this song, Luke Combs discusses how committed romantic relationships can, at times, result in the partners draining the energy of the other person by expending it on plans, daily responsibilities, and conversations rather than concentrating on the genuine reasons why we are together, which are the sources of love.

Therefore, the underlying message of the song is that we should take a vacation from planning for a little while. It also insists on the need to concentrate on how we have always loved each other.

The sour realization that long-term partnerships are certain to fail sets the tone for the first part of the song. Luke Combs uses a nice image when he suggests they take some “little time alone.” Still, we immediately recognize that this is not a literal proposal: the aim is for them to rediscover one another as they did in the early days of their relationship.

The song “Tonight I’m Only Gonna Be Your Man” is then seen as a return to the beginning, to the times when everything was so powerful and unadulterated. And focusing on how we can still love our partner in the present day. Therefore, the chorus depicts a lovely romantic situation in which the pair rediscovers their love for one another.

“The Kind of Love We Make” is not only a romantic song, but it also contains a valuable life lesson that can be gleaned from an examination of the song’s lyrical content. It includes the time when we have been with the same person for many years, and the flame of love and passion can still be found within us.

If things get complicated when juggling the responsibilities of daily life, the ideal time to pause and redirect our attention back to the love we feel is when they do, regarding the most elevated aspects of the connection.

Lyrics

We’ve been burnin’ both ends
Keepin’ the lights on
So I’ve been thinkin’ we need
A little time alone

So whatcha say we cancel our plans?
Tonight, I’m only gonna be your man

Let’s get some candles burnin’
And some records turnin’
All the lights down low
Take it nice and slow
The way your body’s movin’
Keep doin’ what you’re doin’
To me all night long
Writin’ our love song
Girl, I want it, gotta have it
Let the passion take us to a higher place
Makin’ the kind of love we make

Well, there ain’t no way, baby
To get me out this house
When you look this good
What could I even think about? Oh
Besides turnin’ round and lockin’ the door
Watchin’ your red dress fall to the floor

Let’s get some candles burnin’
And some records turnin’
All the lights down low
Take it nice and slow
The way your body’s movin’
Keep doin’ what you’re doin’
To me all night long
Writin’ our love song
Girl, I want it, gotta have it
Let the passion take us to a higher place
Makin’ the kind of love we make
Kind of love we make

So whatcha say we cancel our plans?
Tonight, I’m only gonna be your man

Let’s get some candles burnin’
Some records turnin’
All the lights down low
Take it nice and slow
The way your body’s movin’
Keep doin’ what you’re doin’
To me all night long
Writin’ our love song
Girl, I want it, gotta have it
Let the passion take us to a higher place
Girl, I want it, gotta have it
Let the passion take us to a higher place
Makin’ the kind of love we make
Kind of love we make
Makin’ the kind of love we make
