In 2023, there is still controversy regarding LGBTQ2IA+ folks. Many conservatives incorrectly consider being a member of that community to be a choice rather than who those folks actually are. They advocate for discriminatory practices against members of the community. They practice hate too. Conversely, Miranda Lambert’s song “Y’all Means All” is in support of that community. The lyrics are all about inclusivity, so Lambert’s popularity with the LGBTQ2IA+ community is rising all the time.

Not Political

Lambert considers being such an ally to be about loving everyone the same and including everyone when it comes to human rights. She does not consider such an endeavour to be political. Human rights issues should not be subject to the whims of the latest in-power political party. Rather, they should be inherent in every civilized society. Lambert’s brother is gay, and both he and his husband have been instrumental in educating her about being LGBTQ2IA+. Like many cishet folks, she struggles being a good ally, but she told Billboard that she’s both learning every day and supporting the community more and more every day.

Authentic

The chief thrust of her philosophy is that all people should be free to be their authentic selves and not be constrained by society’s discriminatory practices and traditions. Others in the country music world have followed suit not only in being themselves but also in being better allies. TJ Osborne, Brooke Eden, and Lily Rose are all members of the community, and they are all speaking out now. The origin of the song’s title comes from an interaction with her brother. She asked him what the, “… cool kids were saying, …” these days, and he told her that there was a hashtag of “Y’all Means All” making the rounds. She seized upon it as the title of her song.

“Queer Eye”

Netflix approached Lambert about creating a song for the television program “Queer Eye.” She turned to two of her longtime partners in the music business, Luke Dick and Shane McAnally, for help in crafting the song. They were enthusiastic about it, and the three of them worked on the song. She was really pleased after the song’s release in late 2021, calling “Y’all Means All” fun even if it wasn’t her usual kind of song. Lambert showed her brother, Luke, a bit of both her sense of humor and gratitude when she told him that she would send him and his husband on a vacation to a warm island somewhere.

Lyrics

If your life is like a tornado
You’ve been living in black and white
All you need is a smoke and a rainbow
Honey, let me give you a light
Alright
Let me give you a light

Yes queen, go queen
Dip it like a Dairy Queen
Put your inhibitions in a big U-Haul
Goodwill Gucci
Where my Chattahoochies?
Out in the country honey, y’all means all (hey)
Y’all means all
Mmm, y’all means all (hey)

Maybe there’s a little scratch in your reflection
Maybe your rhinestone lost its shine
Just count on love and count your blessings
Count on me, come on let’s ride
Mmm, I got a big ol’ bus so jump on and ride

Yes queen, go queen
Dip it like a Dairy Queen
Put your inhibitions in a big U-Haul
Goodwill Gucci
Where my Chattahoochies?
Out in the country honey, y’all means all (hey)
Y’all means all

You can be born in Tyler, Texas
Raised with the Bible Belt
If you’re torn between the Y’s and X’s
You ain’t gotta play with the hand you’re dealt (woo)

Yes queen, go queen
Dip it like a Dairy Queen
Put your inhibitions in a big U-Haul
Goodwill Gucci
Where my Chattahoochies?
Out in the country honey, y’all means all (hey)
Honey, y’all means all

Yes queen, go queen
Dip it like a Dairy Queen
Put your inhibitions in a big U-Haul
Goodwill Gucci
Where my Chattahoochies?
Out in the country honey, y’all means all (hey)
Honey, y’all means all
Honey, y’all means all (hey)
